1. Battery drain — if your car battery dies faster than usual, especially when parked overnight, a hardwired tracker could be drawing power.
2. Foreign objects under the car — magnetic GPS units leave rust circles where they’ve been sitting.
3. Disturbed interior trim — installers often pull rear-seat panels, dashboard trim, or door cards. Look for misaligned panels or recent tape residue.
4. OBD port — small black device plugged into the OBD-II port behind the dashboard (most common amateur install).
5. Tape adhesive residue — under UV blacklight, recent installs glow.

The behavioral signs

6. Someone knows where you’ve been when they shouldn’t.
7. Suspicious phone calls or texts reference your location patterns.
8. An ex / family member / business partner has a history of jealousy or controlling behavior.
9. You’ve recently been served divorce papers, restraining order, or custody documents.
10. Recent professional install — your car was taken to a shop you didn’t pick.
11. Your insurance fleet manager mentions data you didn’t authorize.
