(“Fob Experts,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy law. This policy describes what information we collect when you use our website at https://fobexperts.ca, contact us, or purchase services from us, and how we use, protect, and disclose that information.

What information we collect
- Contact information you give us: name, phone number, email address, vehicle make/model/year — submitted via our quote forms, contact form, or by phone.
- Service details: the locksmith service you request, your service location, and any photos or documents you send us to identify your vehicle or fob.
- Payment information: processed by our payment processor (Helcim Inc.) — Fob Experts does not store your credit card number on our servers.
- Automatic information: standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page, time of request) used for security and analytics.
- Cookies: used for site functionality and (with consent) Google Analytics. See “Cookies” below.
Why we collect it (purpose)
- To respond to your quote request or contact form submission.
- To perform the service you have purchased (programming a key, replacing a fob, etc.).
- To bill you and process payment via Helcim.
- To meet our legal obligations (e.g., NASTF chain-of-custody records for automotive locksmith work, tax records).
- To improve our website and services.
- To send you a follow-up review request after service (you can opt out at any time).
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run the business — currently our hosting provider (Hostinger International Ltd.), payment processor (Helcim Inc.), and email/communication tools (Google Workspace / Gmail). Each of these is contractually required to protect your data.
- NASTF and vehicle manufacturers when an automotive key request requires Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) chain-of-custody verification.
- Law enforcement or regulators when legally required (e.g., in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or police request — for example, lost-key cases involving stolen vehicles).
How long we keep it
Quote requests are retained for up to 24 months. Service records (including invoices) are retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law. NASTF-related records are retained as long as required by the program.
Cookies
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to make the site work (session, security). With your consent, we also use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser cookies.
Your rights under PIPEDA
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate;
- Withdraw your consent for marketing (review requests, promotions);
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) if you believe we have mishandled your information.
Security
We protect your information using industry-standard measures: HTTPS encryption for all website traffic, firewalled hosting, limited employee access, and regular security audits.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify recent customers.
