What is FBS4?
FBS4 (Flexible Wegfahrsperre Version 4) is the Mercedes anti-theft encryption introduced gradually from 2014-2016. It uses encrypted communication that only dealer-tied software can authenticate. Independent locksmiths — including NASTF VSP-certified — cannot bypass FBS4 today.
